2023 Code Updates & HEEHRA
What do code updates mean for you?
Beginning January 1, 2023, the DOE is increasing the minimum efficiencies for HVAC units from 14 SEER to 15 SEER. In order to make this change, productions will shift, materials used will change, and prices will begin to go up starting at the manufacturer, through their distributors, and through small businesses. We are anticipating there will be a 30-35% price increase in HVAC systems. We want to keep costs as low as possible for our customers, so we are working to get those prices locked in.
How are we doing this?
Prices lock in for our company if we are able to place equipment orders before December 31, 2022. If you have an open estimate with our company and choose to move forward, all you need to do is accept and pay your deposit. Then we purchase the equipment and lock in that price for you even if the install happens after January 1, 2023.
What is HEEHRA?
HEEHRA is the high efficiency electric home rebate act. HEEHRA is a voluntary program that covers 100% of electrification projects costs up to $14,000 for low income households and 50% of costs up to $14,000 for moderate income households.
Should you wait for HEEHRA?
While we are all excited for HEEHRA to take effect, much is still unknown about the logistics and timeline. Timelines currently report the program to take effect in Spring of 2023, however it is dependent on each individual state to build. This means if you wait until Spring 2023 to get your estimate, it could be installed at best, in Summer 2023. We would not currently advise waiting for this if your system is at its expected life span, it is not performing well enough to keep you warm or cool constantly, or if you have a non-operational system currently.
Why would it take that long to get things installed?
Although many of the effects of Covid-19 seem like a distant issue, in the manufacturing world, those effects are still very real. Some equipment is out 90-120 days from the time we, the business, place your equipment order.
